By Niv Joshi Wednesday, FebruWomen in Informatics (Winfo), a student-run organization in the Information School, recently welcomed more than 200 students from across the University of Washington to its 10th annual hackathon.Whether you are an experienced hacker or just looking to explore, come join WINFO for a valuable experience at our 11th Annual Hackathon! You will get to meet with mentors from different tech fields, network with sponsoring companies, get hands-on experience coding or designing, and have fun in teams working to problem solve! Space is limited, so hurry! Registration is first-come, first-served! We are excited to bring this event back in person this year!! As we look around us, we examine problems from various perspectives to reframe our preconceptions, build better products and services, and innovate to make the world a better place. The iSchool will have a big presence at the upcoming American Library Association Midwinter conference. Students from across the UW campus spent their day coming up with apps and websites around the theme of A World of Difference. Every year, we bring together students with diverse skill. iSchoolers in the News The annual Winfo Hackathon attracted about 150 students despite a rare sunny weekend day. Bringing together our diverse past experiences and backgrounds allows us to better design a future that incorporates all bodies, and strives to be more inclusive. The WINFO Hackathon is a collegiate hackathon held at the University of Washington in Seattle. In all contexts it is a strength to be able to cultivate former experiences, grow from them, and take new skills onward. Women in Informatics and the iSchool community strongly believe in learning from the past, in order to improve the future.
